Years of Problems with this model

Our first version of this model was a lemon. I had repair people out 7 times while the refrigerator was still under warranty in the first year. Eventually Frigidaire did replace the refrigerator with a brand new model for which I give them credit. The replacement model never made ice as it should. We have had repairmen out several times as the automatic ice maker would freeze up. For the last year we have been dealing with a layer of ice the forming in the bottom of the freezer, but we were still trying to hold on as this was a major purchase. During the most recent ice layer removal, we have found that the food in the bottom of the freezer is no longer frozen and we must throw it away. Now we feel we have no choice but to replace it as we don't feel it will ever be fixed adequately.

    Well here it is.

I bought this thing years ago, and have not had much of an issue. Yes the ice maker went out as well. But... Now because I am not going out and spending another large amount of money on a new fridge I'm looking for parts for mine which anywhere I look it's always a special order item. About one a day I need to do a manual defrost on it because I cant seem to find one of the two sensors I need. I hate to say I haven't had the issues alot of other customers have had with theirs. no rust or water leaks. The ol'girl is just freezing up way to much.

    Disappointed

I have the exact same problem with my refrigerator...sheets of ice forming in the bottom of the refrigerator and the freezer drawer in addition to a 3" rust hole in the rear metal panel. The original ice maker was serviced and eventually replaced only to discover the hole afterwards. The service tech contacted Frigidaire and was told there was a defect. He was given a file number and advised someone would contact me within 5-10 business days. It's been almost a month now and I haven't heard from anyone and don't expect to. I have all Frigidaire Gallery appliances and in addition to the refrigerator issues, I have had to replace the microwave and one of the indicator lights on the stove top stays on all of the time. I really liked the products but having too many problems with them and will probably switch out for another brand...so disappointed.

    Horrible waste of money-2

So.... From the response to my review below, I have a few words. First, my "technician" DID in fact call Frigidaire about the problem with our unit. He got the same response he has received on multiple times in the past when calling on the same unit for the same problem: there is no defect (even though nearly all of these models have the same problem) and there is no fix for it. Awesome. So, we spent thousands of dollars on what was supposed to have been a top notch fridge unit for our high value custom home, and we are told to go pound sand. Here are photos of the rust area on the back of the fridge, the ice building up in the freezer, and the rust stains invading from the large rust area. Explain to me again how this isn't a defect!?

We bought this unit in 2011 for our new construction house. After about a year, we began having various problems that the warranty repair guys addressed. However, unbeknownst to us, the unit was developing a massive rust hole in the back of the fridge. Ultimately, a more than 1.5 foot rust area that sweats water onto the floor has developed, and we're told, both by the repair people, and by Frigidaire, that there is nothing that can be done to repair this. The repair guys are well aquainted with the problem, but Frigidaire refuses to acknowledge it. Also, the freezer develops inches of ice in the bottom that requires us to monthly empty the fridge, thaw it out and restock it. We have discovered that it regularly leaks into the floor underneath the fridge. Now the water dispenser has stopped working, probably because the line has frozen.
